January Events Mobilizing California Against Offshore Oil Drilling and Seabed Mining

On January 15 from 12:00–1:00 PM, Secretary Wade Crowfoot will host a Speaker Series event titled, “Not on Our Watch: Stopping More Oil Drilling on California’s Coast.” Supervisor Cummings will join Secretary Wade Crowfoot as an invited speaker in this statewide forum addressing federal proposals to expand offshore oil drilling. The discussion will cover how Californians are organizing to protect the coast, the role of local governments in the fight, and how the public can participate in upcoming community hearings across the state. January 21 from 7:00–8:30 PM at the London Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz
The Santa Cruz Climate Action Network is hosting a community forum called “Make Polluters Pay and Offshore Oil Drilling Threats.” The Forum takes place at the London Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz on January 21 from 7:00–8:30 PM. The event will feature presentations on the fight against offshore drilling and state and national legislation aimed at holding fossil fuel companies accountable for the climate damage they have caused. Confirmed speakers include Dan Haifley, Gary Patton, Fred Keeley, and Justin Cummings.
